Baby Jogger City Premier

After trying out the Baby Jogger City Versa and Versa GT I knew I'd have to at least give the new City Premier a go with my daughter. I was hoping it would be lighter to push than the Versa GT and have much better wheels than the standard Versa. I also liked the look of the Premier more than the 2 Versas and it reminded me of the City Select that I really loved but which was slightly too wide and too long as a single pushchair. Here's my look at the Baby Jogger City Premier.

- the elegant look
- good size wheels with suspension
- fantastic denim like fabrics, a great upgrade on the standard slippery like fabrics on previous models
- huge seat
- massive basket
- one hand fold with seat in situ both parent and world facing
- extendable handlebar
- easy to apply handbrake.

- heavy to push
- noisy front wheels
- canopy folds itself down when fully extended
- very heavy to fold with one hand, easier to do with seat removed but still heavy and awkward to hold/lift, doesn't freestand
- very heavy to tip up kerbs.

Overall the Baby Jogger City Premier was a disappointment to me. It ticked all the boxes on paper but it was just too heavy and I couldn't believe how noisy the wheels were. I wish Baby Jogger would make the pushchair lighter to lift and to push because with such a huge seat and basket it could really be a fantastic pushchair.

Micro Black adult scooter review

Micro Black is an adult scooter from the amazing Micro range of child and adult scooters.

'With exceptional Swiss construction and uncompromising quality, the Micro Black is a comfortable scooter suitable for everyday use.
The low to the ground deck lessens the strain on your back and the wider, longer footplate gives extra room for those with larger feet – giving you more control when scooting. The scooter is easy to fold making it quick to store and convenient to transport.
Along with the Flex Deluxe the Micro Black has the largest wheels of all the adult scooters in our range. This means you can get around faster and with less effort than with any other scooter.
The scooter has one of the highest adjustable handlebar heights making it ideal for adults.
The kickstand enables the scooter to stand upright by itself. It can be kicked forward or back when you are ready to ride and flicked back easily when resting to provide a stand for parking the scooter.
The Micro Black is our preferred choice for everyday use whether scooting on the school run or as part of your journey to work.'

I was impressed with the quality of Micro Scooters from the moment I put my hands on the Mini Micro my parents bought for my then 2 year old son. When he outgrew that we received a Maxi Micro and the Mini Micro went to my younger daughter. I was teaching her to ride it and couldn't really keep up with both the kids on their scooters. I'm really bad at jogging/running for any period of time and so I started looking into the adult scooters in the Micro range. I decided it was time to get one and asked my husband to make it my birthday gift. He wasn't really convinced I'd use it and honestly it's quite a bit of money to spend on 'a toy'. Thankfully he didn't have to decide as Micro Scooters were kind enough to send me their Micro Black for a review. All in time for my birthday! :)
So what are my thoughts on the scooter for an adult?
Well, I LOVE IT! That's sums it up pretty nicely :)

Huge pros:
- speed, being able to keep up with the children
- using it to run errands when I'm on my own, don't have to take the car to get to town quickly
- foldable for ease of storage and to put in the boot of the car when needed
- super easy to ride
- height adjustable handlebar
- easy to use brake
- looks great
- build quality
- people stop you in the street to comment how awesome it is.

Small cons:
- hard to brake when wheel is wet, have to take extra care when it's raining and go slower than normally
- the attention - people stare, even now after I've been using it for months I still get stared at which may put some people off haha.

If you're even considering buying an adult scooter do take it on a test ride. Micro Scooters offer test ride, just check out their website for details. You can also see these scooters in good high street stores like John Lewis so you can get the feel of them.

I've been using the Micro Black nearly every day since I got it in March. I use it on most school runs unless my husband is picking our son up. It's absolutely a fantastic piece of kit and I don't think I could live without it now I know how amazing it is.

Please check out the Micro Scooters website for details and to get yours :)

Monday the 10th July is officially National Pina Colada Day - what a start to the week!

To celebrate, SodaStream has teamed with Lizzie King (Lizzie Loves Healthy Family Food) to create a better-for you sparkling twist on the cult classic.

Traditionally the sweet rum-based cocktail is packed with sugary ingredients but Lizzie has created a unique version that is delicious, lower in sugar and rubbish-free. Also, being sparkling water based, and mixed with fresh pineapple it's hydrating.

With summer officially here, ensuring the kids are fully hydrated needs to be a top priority, yet 72% of Brits are still consuming less than the recommended daily amount of two litres of water. Instead, often turning to sugar and additive laden shop bought drinks, for adults and children.
Healthy hydration doesn’t have to be boring, and we’ve been working with an influential healthier eating expert, Lizzie King (Lizzie Loves Healthy Family Food), to create a range of delicious additive, refined sugar, better for you hydrating mocktails - and cocktails for mums & dads, for the whole family this summer. By being sparkling water based, and mixed with fresh fruits, Lizzie’s recipes offer something for everyone, with hydration at the heart.
SodaStream recently polled 2,500 people and found that lemon topped the list of the nation's favourite fruit to add to water, with a third of the votes (33%), closely followed by strawberry (27%) and lime (26%). It’s time the nation got a little more creative!

SodaStream Pina Colada
100g fresh pineapple in chunks
3 ice cubes
50 ml coconut milk (from a tin)
½ a lime juiced
50 ml rum
100 ml Sparkling water

Place the ice cubes and pineapple chunks in a high speed blender and blitz until you have a liquid. Add the coconut milk and lime juice and whizz together.
Place another couple of ice cubes into a tall cocktail glass.
Add the rum to the bottom of the glass, pour over the pineapple mixture and top with sparkling water. Stir together gently with a swizzle stick and serve with a slice of lime on the edge of the glass.
